GDPR - What Is It?

‘GDPR’ stands for ‘General Data Protection Regulation’, and it’s a somewhat recent way of regulating the ways that data is handled by businesses as it moves around the world via the internet. Find out where this GDPR legilsation affects businesses.

That’s a broad overview. But what is a GDPR, really? And how can you comply?

Enacted in May 2018, the GDPR consists of regulatory guidelines that help make data gathering, handling and sharing really transparent. Websites need to declare when they’re gathering data, and what they’re using it for. You might have experienced this change as pop-ups containing a privacy statement when you visit a new website. This GDPR Awareness course is made up of 13 modules. The course can be accessed online, giving you the opportunity to study at your own pace, and in a preferred location. It has been specifically built to be viewed on multiple devices. Features include interactive videos, 24/7 tutor support and quizzes to help you test your knowledge. All the latest guidance has been included, including the recent publications from the Article 29 Working Party and the UK’s ICO.

Each Lesson concludes with a brief knowledge check. Questions are a combination of true or false, complete the sentence, and the occasional scenario. Feedback is given with each answer to help the learner work through the topics.

Although there is no official examination or assessment, a certificate of completion is awarded upon successfully finishing the course.
