An Overview of ITIL 4 Strategist: DPI
This introductory segment welcomes students to the course, detailing its structure and the expected learning outcomes.

Module 1: Concepts of Direct, Plan, and Improve
In this module, students explore fundamental concepts related to ‘Direct, Plan, and Improve’, focusing on differentiating essential terms such as ‘vision’, ‘mission’, ‘methods’, ‘operating model’, and ‘scope of control’.

Discussion extends to the management of planning across various levels, incorporating aspects of governance, compliance, and management.

The module concludes by examining the concepts of value, outcomes, costs, and risks, and their interrelation with strategic direction, planning, and improvement efforts.

Module 2: Implementing Direction and Planning
This module details the elements requiring direction and planning, employing key principles and methods for effective implementation. By its conclusion, students will understand how to distribute goals and requirements, formulate effective policies, and set adequate controls without overregulation. This knowledge enables placing decision-making powers at appropriate organisational levels.

Module 3: Principles and Methods of GRC
This module delves into Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and their associated principles and methods.

Students will be equipped with knowledge on the purpose and integration of GRC within ITIL 4’s Service Value System (SVS) and understand risk management and governance’s impact on DPI.

Module 4: Driving Continual Improvement

Exploring measurement and metrics, this module emphasizes the importance of measurement, reports, key success factors, and primarily, KPIs. Exams

This course is designed to prepare students to sit and pass the ‘ITIL Specialist: Direct, Plan & Improve’ examination. In order to sit the exam, students must satisfy be certified in ITIL® 4 Foundation.

Passing the ITIL 4 DPI examination is a prerequisite for completing both the ‘Managing Professional (MP)’ and ‘Strategic Leader (SL)’ streams. However, students only have to pass the exam once.

PeopleCert Exam Information

Your exam voucher will be sent to you shortly after you purchase your course. The exam voucher must be redeemed on the PeopleCert website before starting your course. Redeeming the exam voucher allows customers to access the official eBook.

PeopleCert exams can be taken online, through your web browser or using ExamShield proctoring software. Candidates choose how to take their exam in their account area on the PeopleCert website.

PeopleCert operate an exam insurance scheme called Take2. If you would like the opportunity to retake the exam , you must purchase Take2 before taking your exam.

Take2 can be purchased through your PeopleCert account up to 15 minutes before your exam.

Alternatively, you can become a PeopleCert Plus member to receive a free resit for all certifications you take.

  • This is a multiple choice ‘Objective Test Question’ (OTQ) exam consisting of 40 questions
  • There is a time limit of 90 minutes to complete the exam
  • The exam is closed book, with only the provided materials being permitted for use
  • The pass mark for the exam is 70%: you must get 28 out of 40 questions correct
  • In countries where English is a second language, the time allocated for the exam is extended to 113 minutes
