FAQ's: The Virtual Classroom

Commonly asked questions answered!

Demand for Virtual Classroom courses has sky-rocketed in the past 12 months due to the Coronavirus, but what are they exactly? We have compiled a list of questions that we are commonly asked as people explore their options to advance their career during the pandemic by expanding their skill set.

Q. “What is a Virtual Classroom?”
A. Virtual Classroom courses are courses facilitated using Zoom technology. They are fully interactive and only require you to have a good internet connection, camera, microphone and computer.  Most people do not require any additional setup to be able to attend. Course materials are provided electronically.

Q. “What are the benefits of a Virtual Classroom?”
A. Virtual Classroom courses allow you to learn from the comfort of your own home. You can also attend courses in a time zone that suits you. Virtual Classroom courses also have many of benefits of attending a Classroom course: you have the same ability to interact with your presenter and fellow attendees to have your questions answered; you can collaborate and hear others’ real-life experiences in relation to the topic in the same way you do in a physical classroom environment. Additionally, you might be attending alongside people from anywhere in the world and hearing their perspectives and unique challenges.

Q. “I have a team that I would like to have trained; can EA Learning facilitate private Virtual Classrooms for my organisation?”
A. Yes, absolutely. We can work with you to contextualise the course and train your team to meet your desired learning outcomes. To learn more about how our courses can best assist you, contact us and one of our specialist team members will be in touch with you soon.

Q. “What is the difference between a Virtual Classroom and an eLearning course?”
A. Virtual Classroom courses are delivered ‘live’ by a presenter, and generally held on consecutive days between 9am – 5pm in the local time of a particular city. eLearning courses are self-paced, self-guided and are not held to a schedule. With eLearning courses, you are instead given access to a portal for a period of time to complete the course. You can view our full list of eLearning courses on our website.

Q. “I find it hard to focus for long periods of time, how will I find a Virtual Classroom course?”
A. We know all too well that it can sometimes be hard to focus, so regular opportunities for breaks are provided. This includes time allowed for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, in addition to smaller breaks throughout the day. Our presenters also bring their personality to the course to help keep you engaged. You can read more about them on our website.

Q. “What are previous attendees saying about EA Learning Virtual Classrooms?”
A. At the end of every course, whether it is a Classroom or Virtual Classroom course, we ask all attendees to provide their feedback through a quick one-minute anonymous survey. The feedback on our presenters and Virtual Classroom courses is consistently positive. Most participants respond that they are either satisfied or very satisfied with the course and commonly select words to describe the course as: unique, useful, interesting, and high quality. We take all feedback into consideration and are constantly working to improve.

Q. “I am interested in a Virtual Classroom course however it is being held in a different time zone than the one I am in. Can I attend?”
A. You can attend any Virtual Classroom being held at any time. It is not uncommon for people to attend a course that is not in their time zone if it suits their work or lifestyle. A benefit of doing this is being able to hear real-life examples and stories from others in your course that are from an entirely different part of the world to you.

Q. “Because the course is Virtual, does that mean there will be a large number of people attending?”
A. Whether you attend a Virtual Classroom or Classroom course with EA Learning, there will never be more than 20 people in your class. This allows everyone the opportunity to interact with the presenter and have their questions answered.

You can see the full schedule for each course on our website. We hope that this has helped you with any questions you may have had regarding Virtual Classroom courses.
